Description

The counterbalance valve (hydraulic load holding valve) is designed for safe control of hydraulic cylinders or motors. It is a single-acting valve used for load holding and controlled movement, typically mounted directly on the actuator (e.g., in Merlo telehandler systems).

The valve prevents uncontrolled load dropping and ensures stable operation even under varying load conditions.

It allows free flow into the cylinder, while the return flow is controlled by pilot pressure. When the load pressure exceeds the set value, the pressure relief function is activated. With pilot pressure applied, the valve opens proportionally, enabling smooth and controlled movement.
